14th Exhibition of Contemporary Art France – Japan with participation of multi nationality 2013

Mrs. Maria das Dores Marques Banheiro, the mayor of Setùbal in Portugal
Mr. Fernand António Baptista Pereira, art historian, associate professor of the University of Lisbonne
Mr. Jean-Bernard Pouchous, the vice-president of Salon d’Automne.
Mrs Catherine Pouchous, audiovisual producer and multimedia director of Louvre museum was also invited.
Mr David Kastner, artist who have maintained amical relationship with JIAS in many years, attended from USA.

«Exhibition of l’Art Actuel France-Japon with participation multinationality 2013» was held at The National Art Center, Tokyo, Japan from August 7th to 18. Over 7000 people of all description, young and old alike, visited
the exhibition to appreciate 296 artworks, rich in variety and nationality.

The exhibition consists of oil painting, acrylic, watercolor, chinsese ink, nihonga, engraving, art craft…all the art techniques were present and each of these artworks represnted their characteristic and creativity. The artists participated were : 68 international artists from France, Holland, USA, Spain, and China, who have been active in the front rank of painters all over the world, included french artisits from the society of Salon d’Automne and the society of Salon des Artistes Français.

Then 191 japanese artisits , basicaly the member of Japan International Artists Society (JIAS), who are creating the modern art production based on the Japanese traditional technics and art spirit.

On August 7, the opening day, several events took place at the Auditorium with japanese artists and follwing invited guests of honor:

Mr. Pereira gave a lecture about the city of Setùbal in Portugal, where the next exhibition of CAEA/JIAS “46th Exhibition of the art Contemporary Japanese” will take place in 2014. The audience listened attentively and discovered this beautiful seaside city.
After the award ceremony, the opening party was held on a grand scale under the presence of H.E. Ambassador of Portugal, Mr. José de Freitas Ferraz. The reception proceeded in a relaxed mood.

On August 8, the conference of commentary in slide show was held for Japanese artists by Mr Pouchous and Mr Pereirra, who both have a through knowledge of artistic circle. Their commentaries carefully given from various points of view a deeply impressed 70 japanese artists and certainly encouraged them.

During the exhibition, our project started since 2011, «Support project for the children in Rikuzentakata suffered by the 3.11 earthquake» interested many visitors so that finally we could offer 700 sketchbooks to 5 kindergarden in Rikuzentakata.
